In English:Hello Boys`n Girls!
As some of you may have noticed another hobby of mine, which is also very close to my heart, is Airbrushing...
In the last competition at Vääksy, Samu gave this rig for me to do a custom paint job.
At first we planned to paint this in blue, with black tube frame, but as the plans changed along the way, Samu gave me totally "free hands" with the painting.
Was actually pretty excited and thrilled to hear the name of the car and the story behind it, and honoured to do a paintjob for the Champ himself!

"The Nordic Alien", hmmm... Ridley Scott´s Alien, tearing a paddle tyre and tuned up with Finnish national coloured irokese (for the little Nordic touch) was the first thing that came up in my mind

Did a 15min. rough pencil sceching and had "the green light" from the owner:

Yep, i think that´ll do so let´s get it on!
At first i started by prepping this awesome tube frame!
Compliments and "hat off" for the welder!
Gently sandblasted it:

After that it was time for a couple rounds of primer filler:

And then, after a quick sanding with 3M superfine sanding sponge, it was time for the matt black base color:

The frame was left to dry, and it was time to do the stencils for the painting.
The name in the roof, and later on the Alien tails on the side panels, are custom made stickers which i made from vinyl with vinyl cutter. The stencil for the Alien i made from overhead projector sheet.
The base paint had dried over night, and it was time to start painting the graphics.
Started of the roof.
Blue parts of the graphics are made with Wicked Colors Laguna Blue:

Wanted to paint this little bastard for a while now, thrilled to finally got the opportunity to paint it onto RC-car body

Added more details on it, and started figuring out how to paint a streched paddle tyre, as i´m not a good drawer my self, to be honest with you

Getting there, guess what i used as a template for the paddles... yep!

After that it was time for the Alien tails on the sidepanels.
There wasn´t much usable fotos to be found on the Internet, so i had to draw them down with Sharpie and then made vinyl stencils for them.
Looks like tapeworm for me, but we´ll give it a go

Not bad, i think:

At this point i also painted the mufflers blue, just to see how they fit because my original plan was to paint the tube frames also in blue, but as far as i can tell, they´ll stay in black.

Getting closer:

After painting numerous of lexan bodies in the "upside down way", and after a loooong pause with airbrushing, it was a bit struggle for me to get it done

After all, i´m pretty happy how it came out

Few finishing touches, and we´re ready for clear coating

Stay tuned to see the final appearance, just before the next competition!
