Hello and welcome!
We hope that this will grow as crawling has and one day we will have huge rc formula offroad world championships. You can drive crawling almost everywhere but rc formula offroad requires always a certain terrain, hills. I've got many private messages where people have complained about lack of sand hills. I belive that's the major reason why people who would otherwise build a foff car stay back.
I guess we just have to wait till 1/1 formula offroad takes place in the US and after that think about RC. It'll take obviously many years and recession doesn't help it...

Thanks you for your welcome,
Do you know if there are any plans to start 1:1 Formula Offroad in US?
Given the chance RC FOFF could take off just like crawling with the right coverage.
Crawling started in the same way with people building crawlers from parts and now most of the RC companies made a RC crawler

I heard a few years ago that there has been some plans to conquer North America but now because of recession the whole 1/1 thing was about to take a break this year. For example many drivers have sold their cars and the ones who haven't can't afford travelling bills.
As you said rc foff will need the right coverage to rise. I can't see any other way for that than being part of a 1/1 competition. I wish I'm wrong because this is the most satisfying thing you can do with RC cars. Everyone should try foff at least once.

Its a shame that 1/1 has been put back for now in America. I can see the Americans loving Formula Off-Road but we'll have to wait and see.
Not had a go at FoFF but tried general Buggy, Truggy and Monster Truck driving and its cool.
Tried rock crawling but its not for me so I think FoFF will suit me. ;D
The cost of 1/1 is very expensive but I reckon World wide FoFF could be the next big thing in RC ;)

I know there's many that build R/C Formula Offroad trucks in America and Canada
Rock Racing is close to Formula Offroad

I compete in 2.2 pro crawling as well as scale and I hope FOFF takes to north america for it is the most fun ever. I think that once more people catch on it will become huge. I know here in Canada I am trying to promote FOFF as much as possible because of the fun facator!

I'm soon going to publish 2012 official rules to RC Foff. Then I'll post those to rccrawler.com, so everyone can take advantage of them. If the sport really does kick of in the States and Canada, there should be one and oly rulebook to look at. Just like most of the people are using US. crawling rules. It's very nice to hear that this has grown so big already! Welcome to the forum!

I'm the only FOFFer in Ireland... ;D

i love it, building up my wraith slowly as a foff rig, and as soon as it finished we gonna hit the sand dunes.
but i do believe there are not many rc foffers in holland.
also to bad that our country has to little or no options for 1/1 scale foff..

Yeah, not that I know of. I know a couple of dutch crawling dudes, but that's about it. Nice to hear that you have found this sport as well! 8)

crawling is also a dicipline which is still growing in here.. but slowly more and more people are getting into this.
ik think rc foff has to be promoted a little more so, i think the most people around here dont even know that it exists.. but maybe it will grow in the future
only to bad that i cant speak or read your language ;D

Yeah, that can be an issue :D I will be putting build threads of my foff rigs to rccrawler.com formula offroad site soon. Translating rules into english is under work as well. ;)

And google translator isn't much of a help since most people don't speak Finnish grammatically correct :-\.
-
google translate is indeed useless i found out..
but i will wait patiently till we have something to translate with, in the mean time i will be ok, if i just have to know what something means i will just ask ;D
greetings from a near future foffer from holland.

Hi all, new here but a regular on a few largescale forums.
i've been a huge fan of foff for yrs, used to get in on eurosport when i lived in the uk, being into rc's for yrs and with all the sand and gravel pits here Mid Vancouver Island there's no shortage of great hills, i started at first modifying, building a tube chassis with redcat rampage drivetrain and caged solid rear axle and finally decided to custom build, as close to scale looking as possible, from the ground up build..roughly 1/4 scale, built mainly for an as yet unconquered hill
what it has
obr 57cc full mod twin, home built solid axles front and rear, 4 link, 4130 chromemoly tube chassis, built in my shed...

my previous builds can be seen running on my you tube channel http://www.youtube.com/user/mooman007uk?feature=mhee (http://www.youtube.com/user/mooman007uk?feature=mhee)...all to try and get up that hill...
