wraith engine question
« : 27 Helmikuu, 2013, 13:19:53 »
hello ya all,

i have a question or thought on the engine which i want to order to place in my wraith.

i am thinking about placing a mamba max pro esc with a pro4 3300KV in my wraith
i was tinking to run that system on a 2s lipo for a little crawling/ bashing/fun riding
and planned to run it on 3s lipo for a little more speed for foff..

what do you guys think, is this possible or do you think it will be underpowered for foff?

the problem in here is the following:

holland is a pretty flat country, and in the earea i live we have small hills and  sand dunes, nothing really hughe or steep, excavation sites are mostly forbidden to tresspass.

so i am a little limited in foffing areas, that is why i want to have a bit of dual set up so i can do a bit of both.

what do you all think?

I'm happy with the CC MMP/4600kv combo with 3s lipos (building topic). However, this setup lacks torque so it's not good for slow crawling type of driving.

Considering your situtation I'd go for "hybrid" setup: 2000-3500kv motor with 3s and 4s lipos depending on driving ground. So I think the seup you're thinking is worth trying.

thank you for your quick reply.
i'll get into the specs of the pro 4 if it can handle 4s lipo and temperatures.

I have 4300kv motor and 3S lipo my car and it's good for foff.
If you want use 2S lipo then castle 5700kv motor is fine.

Crawling / bashing is something else than foff, but slidslide's "hybrid" setup is maybe good.
I think 4000kv --> and bigger kv is fine foff motor and my crawl motor is 35t so it's "about" 1500kv.

Anyway if you have mostly "flat country area" then little bit underpower is not still bad.
So "hybridmode" setup can be maybe the best all terrains.

Sorry my bad language and welcome our forum!  :)

thanks for your reply,  it is clear to me so there is no need to excuse for bad language.

after thinking about a few things, and asking myself i insist on having a sensored setup i made a deciscion.
the rig is gonna be powered with a castle sct 3800 kv or 4000 KV unit..
being run on 2s and 3S..

i am not into real serious crawling so i think i can use this system.

small update

i eventually choose for the castle SCT 3800KV.. build in, and run with the stock gearing and it is a big improvement... on 2s lipo pulling sick wheelies when it has traction.

placed esc and batteries and al the stuff in front of the car ( abt 300+ grams) , and still pulls wheelies when asked..

still waiting for some stuff like panthers, piggyback shocks, droop kit and some pinions and then we can see how it runs in the sand with the paddles

yes it is..

gonna try some pinion combi's to try if i can get a little more top end.
then run it for a while and enjoy it while it gives me the time to get some robinson race gears and prepare it all for 3s lipo..

and by that time i hope we can also try a little waterskipping..

pictures will follow soon

small update, shocks and droop kit installed.
still experimenting with the ride height and battery positions..

steering servo and horn are schredded after a sick jump with a horrible landing.
new servo and horns are on their way..

rims are ready for the tires, only the tires are lost somewhere during shipment.... >:(

i still have to be patient i guess

Little update:

Tires received, fitted, tested and what a difference
Destroyed the idler gear in the meantime, replaced the stock trans gears and waiting for the robinson gears.
Now searching for some more speed, first look ing in to the gearing and if we can get some speed, otherwise 3S power

Here are some poser shots
